County Meath, Ireland – 5th May 2009: Energyquarter.ie, a website designed to assist consumers improve energy efficiency in their homes was launched today in County Meath. The aim of the website is to educate consumers on the latest technologies, policies and trends in the marketplace. As well as providing quality information and advice on how consumers can save energy, reduce carbon emissions and apply for relevant grants, the site also provides consumers with direct access to a list of relevant suppliers and installers of energy efficient products and services.
“While carrying out our research prior to launching energyquarter.ie, we found that awareness among consumers on renewable energy technologies and energy efficient schemes and grants was relatively low,” said Estelle Cotter, managing director of energyquarter.ie. “This presented us with the perfect opportunity to fill this gap and assist in educating and helping consumers learn more about what is available to them.
“With 94,000 expressions of interest in the recently launched Home Energy Savings Scheme, it is clear that consumers increasingly have an interest in making their homes more energy efficient. In addition to this, the latest Building Energy Ratings (BER) requirements state that all homes offered for sale or rent from Jan 1st 2009 require a BER certificate. As a result of the launch of these Government initiatives, it is essential to provide homeowners with simple consumer friendly guidelines, case studies and step by step details of what is involved in applying for these grants and assessments. Therefore, we feel launching a website of this nature is extremely timely,” she concluded.
Energyquarter.ie is taking steps to reduce its own environmental impact, by becoming carbon neutral during the initial stages of the business. This will continue to be a key focus as the company develops and grows.
