ENERGYQUARTER.IE TO ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AND TACKLE COST SAVINGS FOR CONSUMERS

(Energy Efficiency Information Day to Highlight Money Saving Initiatives for Consumers)

Dublin, Ireland 28th October, 2009:  Energyquarter.ie, a website designed to
assist consumers improve energy efficiency in their homes, has announced
that it will host an Energy Efficiency Information Day at the Marriott
Hotel, Ashbourne, County Meath on Sunday 15th November 2009, 2-6pm.

The aim of the event is to give consumers access to a range of experts who will provide
them with quality information on energy saving initiatives. The industry
experts will also be on hand to inform consumers on the latest environmental
policies and trends in the marketplace and how they can apply for available
Government aided grants to help finance environmentally driven home
improvements.

“We see this information day as an excellent opportunity for consumers to be
able to meet with local businesses in the sustainable energy sector and find
out about the latest energy related products and technologies for their
homes,” commented Estelle Cotter, Managing Director of Energyquarter.ie.
“During these uncertain economic times, Irish consumers are seeking to save
money on their energy bills, while at the same time doing their bit for the
environment,” she added.

As well as providing quality information and advice on how consumers can
save energy, reduce carbon emissions and apply for relevant grants, the
event will also provide consumers with direct access to an array of
experienced suppliers and installers of energy efficient products and
services. 

Industry experts attending and speaking at the event include:
Tomás O’Leary, Director, MosArt Architects, a firm specialising in Passive
House design; Niall Crosson, Ecological Building Systems, specialists in the
supply of airtight systems and thermal and acoustic insulation products; Tim
Cooper, CGE Cool Power, a leading provider of solar electricity systems (PV)
and Joseph Kearney of BERcerts.ie, who specialise in energy audits and BER
assessments of both domestic and commercial properties.


“The energy performance for new homes in Ireland is set to significantly
increase over the next few years, culminating in “Zero Carbon” standard by
2013,” said Tomás O’Leary, Director, MosArt Architects speaking at
announcement of Information Day details.  “If people are planning a new
home, care should be taken to future proof its energy efficiency so as to
ensure people don’t end up with a “dinosaur”, in terms of being out of
date,” he concluded.   Tomás O’Leary built and lives in Ireland’s first
Certified Passive House and will share his experiences at the Information
Day.  He will also illustrate how existing homes can be radically upgraded
in terms of energy efficiency, even as far as the Passive House standard.
